At Saint David’s, we strive to embody the Guiding Stances of the Center for Congregational Song, which say that “the holy act of singing together shapes faith, heals brokenness, transforms lives, and renews peace.” The music staff works together with the clergy to choose music that not only fosters these stances but also speaks to the Scripture readings for the day, the liturgical seasons, as well as the current needs of the community and the world. This includes the organ preludes and postludes, hymns, choral anthems, as well as solo music (both vocal and instrumental). Our goal is that the music supports and enhances the overall experience of worship in our beloved community.

Saint David’s Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir is for all children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. They meet weekly right after church for about 45 minutes. After a small snack together they work on songs to sing once a month for the 10:30 service. The children learn to sing with a clear tone, work on music theory and learn how to use a hymnal and follow along during the service.

A modified version of the Royal School of Church Music is used, and the children learn Anglican chant; musical concepts and skills; memorization of portions of the Eucharistic rite, i.e., the Creed, the Confession of Sin, and the Lord’s Prayer; as well as deaf signing, units of the Hymnal 1982, and Christian symbolism.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir consists of volunteers who love to sing together. They feel that this ministry feeds them as well as congregants at Saint David’s. They rehearse weekly to prepare for the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, which includes one to two anthems, Anglican chant to lead the psalm, and hymns with descants. Rehearsals are Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. and Sunday mornings from 9:30-10. The choir enjoys laughter, fellowship and fabulous parties together from Rally Day in September through the Day of Pentecost in May. Our choir welcomes anyone who wishes to “make a joyful noise.” There are no auditions required.
